Lavender Oat Milk Latte

Spread the love

It is Lavender season in the Willamette Valley and I couldn’t resist picking up some fresh lavender to refresh my kitchen stock. While I was letting it dry I opened my cupboard and decided that the morning coffee need some spicing up, and a few minutes later I had myself a homemade Lavendar Oat Milk Latte.

You can totally use whatever milk you have in the house. I just happened to grab the Oat Milk out of the fridge first and decided to use it. I’ll also add that the longer you let your lavender and oat milk infuse together, the stronger the lavender gets and there is a point of way too long! I found that I can’t let the lavender sit in the oat milk overnight without having to add more oat milk to it to dilute the lavender down a little. Live and learn right?

When you are making your milk and lavender infusion I would not boil the milk, no matter which one you use. You run the nasty risk of scalding the milk and getting that burnt taste in it. You could try using the microwave to warm the milk I didn’t, but you could. If you choose to try the microwave approach I would zap it for 30 seconds and stir and then repeat the process till it is warm with a small bubble or two, and then let it sit. I put it in a small pot over medium-low heat and just kept an eye on it till I saw small bubbles, and then let it sit.

I really enjoyed the warmth of the lavender and warm oat milk and can totally see this without the caffeine and a little adaptogen like ashwagandha. But with the caffeine, the Lavender Oat Milk Latte made for a great start to the day!
