Orange Sake Mimosa

Spread the love

What do you do when you end up with a bottle of Sake that you just can’t stand chilled and have little interest in trying warm? Well if your me, you play and make cocktails! In my little bar book, there is a section devoted to Sake cocktails. It’s not a big section but something to start with at least.

Love had brought this bottle home when he brought sushi home for dinner. After we opened it and tried a few sips, we both agreed that it was way less than fantastic and need help to make it consumable. We put it in the fridge for the night and pulled out something else to drink while we finished our sushi. I let it sit in the fridge for a day or two while trying to figure out how to play with it and getting the missing ingredients, in this case, champagne! I am a weak female for champagne so I never have it on hand and ready to go in the fridge… lol..

Next time he was over and up for being a guinea pig in my kitchen, I pulled out this bottle of sake and made Orange Sake Mimosa’s! Plus it was only fitting that he try this with me since he bought the bottle of Sake to start with..lol…

While mixing the Vodka with Sake sounded weird at first, I realized it’s kind of like mixing rum with wine to make sangria and moved on. It turned out really pretty well, and I would do it again the next time I have a bottle of dry sweet sake that needs to be consumed or dumped.

Here is the basic recipe plus or minus a bit for personal preferences-

Orange Sake Mimosa!

  • 3oz Sake
  • 1/2oz Vodka
  • 1/2oz Orange Curacao
  • Orange Juice
  • Chilled Brut Champagne

Combine the Sake, Vodka, and Orange Curacao together with ice in a cocktail shaker and shake till chilled. Add OJ to glass and fill with freshly shaken liquor, and top with chilled Champagne… enjoy and be responsible!
